Why did you move? Most of my friends there were working and when I retired I had no one to play with – Plus I wanted SUN!!!!!!!!!!!

How did you hear about Jubilee? I found it on the internet.

What do you like most about living in Jubilee? The nice people and all of the things to do – and of course the SUN!!!!!!

What is your favorite cultural thing to do in Los Lunas or Albuquerque? I enjoy the theater available in the area.

What is your favorite nature activity you do in and around Los Lunas? I enjoy going to the Bosque del Apache Wildlife Center and seeing the sandhill cranes, the snow geese, the road runners and the other wildlife.

What are your favorite restaurants in Los Lunas or Albuquerque? What do you like about them? I don’t have any real favorite restaurant in the area, however I really enjoy going out to breakfast with the ladies from Jubilee the first Wednesday of every month and going out with the other Jubilee residents for our monthly dinner out – it is always nice bo be out with friends and try new places to eat.

What is your favorite Jubilee activity that is for homeowners only? The Holiday parties are always fun – good food and great company.

Rather than respond to individual questions,Jackie and I will tell you what we are greatful for at Jubilee. We moved to Jubilee because we wanted to downsize, heard the radio ad, and Jackie had lived in the Belen and Los Lunas area for years.

Most important are the people who live in Jubilee. Most of them have survived through depressions, wars, child rearing, career and work stresses etc., and still remain open and friendly, willing to help others, and are never intentionally mean or unthinking. Now all of us are ready for new experiences with the wisdom to appreciate our passing life.

The best place to eat in Los Lunas is at the Villa–from the pot lucks to the themed meals. Otherwise we like Pete’s in Belen. And we are into Mah Jongg, Bridge, Exercise, Beading, Painting, Bocce and Information Events–all at the Jubilee Villa.

ITS A WONDERFUL LIFE here in Jubilee.

Where did you live before moving to Jubilee Los Lunas?  Why did you move?

We’ve lived in Colorado Springs CO for the last 16 years.  We moved to Jubilee to retire; we’ve been in love with Jubilee since they opened.  We purchased our house in August 2009 in hopes of being able to move here soon … we finally made it as “full-timers” in June 2011.

How did you hear about Jubilee?

We saw a small ad in the Albuquerque Journal on Easter Sunday 2008 and drove down that day.  We immediately knew this was the place we’d been looking for.

What do you like most about living in Jubilee?

Our neighbors and the community.

If you have one, what is your favorite cultural thing to do in Los Lunas or Albuquerque?

Driving Historic Route 66 is on our retirement list of things to do, so living on it is really fun.

If you have one, what is your favorite nature activity you do in and around Los Lunas?

Hiking the trails around El Cerro, biking, and looking for the petroglyphs.

What are your favorite restaurants in Los Lunas or Albuquerque?  What do you like about them?

Dion’s for easy casual and their sandwiches are amazing; for more of a sit down dinner it’s Teofilo’s and their Blue Tortilla Green Chile Pork Burritos.

All of the social activities.

The availability of things to do, and not feeling pressured that you don’t have to participate in everything.

To attend the Native American pueblo fiestas.

What is your favorite Jubilee activity that is for homeowners only?

Social functions of all kinds.

Three things John wanted to do for activities at Jubilee included: Trivial Pursuit gaming, sharing the vast movie collection, and forming a Barbershop Quartet. Everything is done except the completion of our quartet known as “Jubilation”. We still need a Tenor!

What do you like most about living in Jubilee?  Beautifully maintained gated community with an active social life and wonderful neighbors.

If you have one, what is your favorite cultural thing to do in Los Lunas or Albuquerque?  We enjoy the historical places such as Acoma Pueblo and Old Town.

If you have one, what is your favorite nature activity you do in and around Los Lunas?  We enjoy being able to hike in our own backyard.  We have also hiked in several of the state/national parks.

We can’t pick a favorite – there is an unlimited variety of great restaurants to choose from in ABQ and Los Lunas.

What is your favorite Jubilee activity that is for homeowners only?  We enjoy the exercise classes, day trips, dinners and lunch out, and when we just get together at the Villa with our friends and neighbors.  We love it ALL.

Where did you live before moving to Jubilee Los Lunas?  Why did you move?  Albuquerque.  We wanted to retire into a real community with an atmosphere of congeniality and energy.  What we found exceeded our expectations.

How did you hear about Jubilee?  We were looking for this type of community and saw an ad in the Albuquerque newspaper.  After attending three or four activities, we were hooked!

What do you like most about living in Jubilee?  The residents, or course, are the bedrock of the community.   Our neighbors have become our best friends.

If you have one, what is your favorite cultural thing to do in Los Lunas or Albuquerque?  Art exhibits; arts and craft fairs, and learning about the diverse population of Jubilee.

If you have one, what is your favorite nature activity you do in and around Los Lunas?  Rudy does quite a bit of walking around the area.

What are your favorite restaurants in Los Lunas or Albuquerque?  What do you like about them?  Dion’s—great food at a good price and Chili’s–terrific Margaritas and Molten Lava Cake.

What is your favorite Jubilee activity that is for homeowners only?  Penny gets her kicks from games, Rudy from dancing, and we both love the Villa affairs.

1. Where did you live before moving to Jubilee Los Lunas? Why did you move?

After I sold my California business, a home health care agency, this city-girl moved to Belen, had a job with the State and proceeded to develop a three-acre ranch with horses, chickens, rabbits, goats, dogs and cats. Plus vegetable and cactus gardens. After seven years, I was still with the State, but little miss farmer wanted a life with less work and more fun. One morning a new horse ran me over and as I picked myself up out of the dirt I said to myself: I’m out of here!

2. How did you hear about Jubilee?

Jubilee ran an ad in the local newspaper – their first open house was that coming weekend. My office had recently moved from Belen to Los Lunas and I asked a co-worker where El Cerro Mountain was. Oh, 2 miles down the road. I went over to look on Tuesday, I put a deposit down on Wednesday and had my ranch up for sale by the weekend.

3. What do you like most about living in Jubilee?

What do I like most about living here? The opportunities. There are so many activities here: hiking, yoga, gym, group exercises, craft & music classes, card games, pool, bocce ball, parties, movies, and more. You can pick and choose, do all or do none, as you wish. You can make good friends, have a sense of community, help others and be helped. Oh, one more very important thing – dogs are allowed!

4. If you have one, what is your favorite cultural thing to do in Los Lunas or Albuquerque?

I am a member of two art organizations, Tome Gallery and Belen Art League. In Albuquerque, I enjoy the museum, aquarium and zoo! And jazz concerts when they have them.

5. If you have one, what is your favorite nature activity you do in and around Los Lunas?

My favorite nature activity is hiking here in the adjoining open space, going down to Bosque del Apache, and being a member of the ABQ Cactus Society.

6. What are your favorite restaurants in Los Lunas or Albuquerque? What do you like about them?

I don’t eat out a lot, but I really like King Sushi in downtown Albuquerque – they get their fresh fish on Fridays and their tuna sashimi is simply wonderful.

7. What is your favorite Jubilee activity that’s for homeowners only?

My favorite homeowner activity? Can I only pick one? Well, that would have to be our ukulele class on Wednesday nights.

Where did you live before moving to Jubilee Los Lunas?  Why did you move? We came from Oklahoma City, OK.  We have spent at least 30 years considering our retirement home/location.  Primarily we looked at Colorado and several years ago purchased a home at Battlement Mesa, CO.  This home turned out to be a great investment property as we sold it prior to the decline in the housing market.  We sold it after discovering Jubilee and deciding a property at Jubilee Los Lunas could be our perfect retirement home.

How did you hear about Jubilee? We saw an advertisement in “Where to Retire” magazine.  We were preparing for a trip to Pagosa Springs, CO at the time and decided to drop by and check it out.  We loved the area, the models, the proximity to Albuquerque, and the village of Los Lunas.  During our stay at Pagosa Springs we gave it serious thought.  Our trip back to Oklahoma City included another trip to Jubilee. At the time the El Cerro (A-2) was not open to building, but options to contract on lot were available.  We elected to put an option on one of the lots.  When building started at El Cerro, we were the first house to close!

What do you like most about living in Jubilee? The climate is our #1 item, but our home, the community, the Villa fitness center, the organized activities, and friendships are very close runners-up to #1.

If you have one, what is your favorite cultural thing to do in Los Lunas or Albuquerque? This is a tough one because there are so many things to do and we have not done all of them…yet.  At this point it is probably Old Town Albuquerque-great atmosphere, restaurants, shopping, special events and museums.

If you have one, what is your favorite nature activity you do in and around Los Lunas? Fred definitely enjoys the golf.  We both like hiking.  I particularly enjoy the regular hikes with the Jubilee residents at El Cerro and other locations.

What are your favorite restaurants in Los Lunas or Albuquerque?  What do you like about them? In Los Lunas we love Teofilo’s, The Luna Mansion and Dion’s pizza.  Food is great, service is very good and people are very friendly.  In Albuquerque, there are so many wonderful choices that a favorite is tough to choose.  We always take out of town visitors to the Church Street Café in Old Town.  We really like The Owl Café, Pappadeaux Seafood Kitchen, The Standard Diner and Yanni’s.  We also enjoy The Range Café location in Bernalillo.

What is your favorite Jubilee activity that is for homeowners only? The parties: our photo is from the 2010 Halloween party.  Whether it is a big event, wine and cheese or happy hour, it is a great time with great food and friends.  These are great opportunities to meet neighbors, newcomers and get better acquainted.

Why did you move?

We were drawn to Jubilee because of the friendly active people we met when our Sales Rep (Karen Clary-Aragon) invited us to some of the social activities being held.  Additionally, her patience in presenting floor plans and tours of the models and spec homes was very professional and impressive.  It didn’t take us long to decide that this was the place for us.

After a year & a half, we are still so thankful we found Jubilee!

What do you like most about living in Jubilee?

The wonderful friends we have met and the wonderful people who provide all the activities & entertainment!

We support youth athletics, local concerts and have found a great spiritual home at Calvary Chapel.

We enjoy seeing the native architecture and have toured several local sites.

Without a doubt it is the FANTASTIC Christmas party Jubilee provides for us!!
