Where did you live before moving to Jubilee?
We lived in Ellensburg, Washington, midway between Spokane and Seattle. Having lived in New Mexico in the early-70s and mid-80s, we always knew we would return to the Land of Enchantment.
How did you hear about Jubilee?
Shelley gathered information through surfing the Internet. We found follow-up information in a magazine: Where to Retire.
What do you like most about living in Jubilee?
Having attended both UNM and NMSU in our earlier years, we fell in love with New Mexico. Jubilee’s location in Los Lunas was a huge draw as we worked with persons who resided at the Los Lunas training facility when we majored in special education at UNM. Finding this beautiful Jubilee in our old stomping ground, and the wonderful sales people (Mary Schnitzler & Ann Reed) told us this would become home.
What is your favorite cultural thing to do in Los Lunas or Albuquerque?
We enjoy Burque for its arts, concerts, museums and ‘wild west’ outdoor artwork.
What is your favorite nature activity you do in and around Los Lunas?
We enjoy walking/hiking in the mountains and Bosque.
What are your favorite restaurants in Los Lunas or Albuquerque?
While we prefer home-cooked food above any restaurant, we’ve found some places that serve a fair fare. Old Town Bistro in Socorro impressed us along with Casa de Fiesta in ABQ’s Old Town.
What is your favorite Jubilee activity that is for homeowners only?
David: For now it is Stan’s pool tournaments, bocce, and happy hour. Karaoke is high on my list, too. When the pickleball courts arrive, my view is sure to change. Shelley: dancing under the New Mexican skies!
